Discovery, Wonder & Growth
This energetic age group loves to explore their surroundings! Explorers thrive in familiar environments where they have the freedom to learn through play. Our classrooms are professionally designed especially for one-year olds with age-appropriate furnishings and a variety of educational toys to aid in their development. Consistency, familiarity and dependability are mportant concepts for one-year olds. Our teachers strive to create an environment that encourages feelings of security and comfort during this formative year.

Explorer teachers typically follow a daily schedule but may alter the day to meet the programming needs of the individual class. Children are given the opportunity to explore the world around them at their own pace and to develop a sense of wonder. One-year olds are discovering their sense of physical self by using their fi ne and gross motor skills. They are discovering a sense of how things work. They will be challenged by puzzles, blocks, chubby crayons, fi nger painting and role playing in the play kitchen with pretend pots, pans and food. Outside play includes safe climbing on age-appropriate play equipment, sand box play and healthy exercise. Children will begin to learn and appreciate valuable social skills such as sharing, taking turns, compassion, respect and developing trusting relationships.
